| | Tristar Risk Management Makes Full Recovery From Long Beach Fire By Lonce LaMon - May 23, 2009On April 28th, just 25 days ago, Tristar Risk Management owner Tom Veale got a phone call from the fire department between 10 and 11 P.M. informing him that his Long Beach office building was on fire. "You might want to come down here," the caller expressed.
Veale, who resides in the Los Angeles area, went to the scene to watch the building housing his Long Beach area branch office burn to the ground. Now, according to Veale, Tristar has made a full recovery.
"There was no loss of data," he told this reporter today by telephone.
When asked what caused the fire, Veale explained that the cause was electrical. "The cause was in the electronic system of the building. There was no arson, no coffee maker..." he said.
According to Veale, he received a tremendous outpouring of support from clients and competitors alike. He gives tremendous credit for his full recovery to Deloitte & Touche together with his internal I.T. team. "Some things worked less well than expected," Veale stated,"and some worked better than expected." But summing it all up, Tom Veale gives overwhelming credit for his present company well-being to the Disaster Recovery Plan called the SAS-70 process created and put in motion by Deloitte & Touche. Six or seven years ago, he didn't have this plan, and he acknowledges now that his recovery would have been much more difficult, perhaps worse than difficult, and have taken much longer had the fire happened over seven years ago prior to having put the SAS-70 process plan together.
Tristar Risk Management is the Third Party Administrator that handles the workers' compensation claims for the City of Los Angeles, and numerous other clients. There are Tristar offices also in Alhambra, Rancho Santa Margarita, Santa Ana, San Diego, Sacramento, and Walnut Creek. |
