| | Kim Kunkel - In Memorium By Lonce LaMon - October 11, 2007Kim Kunkel, a resident of Alta Loma, California, and a veteran claims supervisor, examiner, and claims auditor who also worked extensively with I.T. as a natural expression of his computer science and math aptitudes, died on Monday, October 8th, in the hospital after complications from pneumonia. He was 58 years old.
Kim had just been hired by the County of Riverside in September, and had only been on board there for about three weeks at the time of his death. Prior to being hired by the County, he worked for two years as a workers' compensation claims supervisor at American International Group in Costa Mesa, California.
From 1992 to 2004, Kim Kunkel was a claims jack-of-all-trades at California Indemnity in Burbank, California. He audited claims for all the Western branches and acted as the home-office claims adjuster for reinsurance claims. He wrote procedure and technical manuals, payment control manuals, and reponded to audits performed by the DWC Audit Unit and the CDI Market Conduct auditors. He also worked with the IT department to meet electronic data interchange (EDI) reporting requirements.
The colleagues and friends who knew Kim professionally and personally are saddened by his passing. The claims community extends its condolences to his family.
